The Senator Winebar is located on our second floor in the original building that dates back to the 1860's. It is an intimate, Parisian style bistro serving hearty, delicious comfort food that is rooted in the classics, along with a curated selection of privately imported wines. A talented roster of artists, highlighted by the resident Juno award winning blues pianist Julian Fauth, perform various genres every Friday and Saturday night; see full listings on our MUSIC page. The 24 seat room is on top of the original Senator Diner and is outfitted with period furnishings including a 1920’s Prohibition era bar from Cleveland and a classic 1929 Heintzman upright piano.

The return of live music to the Senator has been welcomed by patrons who supported and loved the Top O’ the Senator - our internationally renowned jazz club - which flourished from 1991 until it closed in 2005 but we only have seating for 24 in our intimate Winebar which dates back to the 1860’s, so we highly recommend that guests make reservations to guarantee a table for dinner and then watch as the room transforms into an old-fashioned, late-night speakeasy with plenty of audience participation.
The resident artist at the Winebar is the Juno award winning blues pianist, Juian Fauth, who performs Fridays with a featured guest and on Saturday we showcase a wide range of artists in every genre - see listings below. The natural acoustics and sight lines are brilliant in this Parisian "boîte" and the Top O' the Senator is now truly back on top of the original Senator. Cover charges are typically $10 arriving before 9 P.M. $5 after 10 P.M and No Cover after 11 P.M.

Les Petits Nouveaux

A collaborative group play manouche-jazz.
Aline Homzy on violin, Tak Arikushi on guitar, reflect influences deeply rooted in the tradition set by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Kalyna Rakel

Kalyna Rakel has a mind, voice, and vision all her own. While many up-and-coming artists could be tempted to jump at a record deal offer, the Canadian singer/songwriter did the opposite, walking away from one and returning to basics, like teaching herself guitar and busking busy streets.
Her early success at age 16, which included airplay on Much Music, aided her self-confidence to go her own path, and releases previous to Before & After You — including Win Me Back, Joanne, and The Other Side — only confirm it.
“I’ve always done things my own way,” says Rakel. “As long as I have my tour van, “Daisy”, and my steel resonator guitar, “Handsome”, I’m good!” That she is. Come hear for yourself.
