The Senator consists of two very distinct historic rooms - the original 1940’s Diner on our main floor and the Top o’ the Senator, an intimate room that dates back to the 1860’s, on the second floor. Both rooms are fully licensed.

The Top o' the Senator is located on our second floor in the original building that dates back to the 1860's. A talented roster of artists, highlighted by our resident Juno award-winning blues pianist Julian Fauth, perform various genres of music every Friday and Saturday night; please see full listings on our MUSIC page. The 24-seat room is on top of the original Senator Diner and is outfitted with period furnishings including a 1920’s Prohibition era bar from Cleveland and a classic 1929 Heintzman upright piano.

The return of live music to the Senator has been welcomed by patrons who supported and loved the original Top o’ the Senator - our internationally renowned jazz club - which flourished from 1991 until it closed in 2005. As we only have seating for 24 in our intimate Top o' the Senator which dates back to the 1860’s, we highly recommend that guests make reservations to guarantee a table for dinner and then watch as the room transforms into an old-fashioned, late-night speakeasy with plenty of audience participation.

Our resident artist at the Top o' the Senator is the Juno award-winning blues pianist, Julian Fauth, who performs Fridays with a featured guest. On Saturday we showcase a wide range of artists in every genre – please see our listings below. The natural acoustics and sight lines are brilliant in the Top o' the Senator - now truly back on top of the original Senator.
